Thirteen years in oak, with a personality all its own. Baker’s 13 Year is the kind of bourbon that rewards a little attention: a limited single-barrel release with the depth of extra aging and the individuality that makes each barrel worth exploring.
The producer’s tasting profile opens with fruit, vanilla and caramel, then moves into oak and toasted nuts on a medium-bodied palate. Vanilla and fruit return along the way, leading to a warmly rounded, lingering finish. At 107 proof, it has enough presence to hold its shape over a large cube, though a neat pour with a few drops of water is a lovely place to start. Because this is a single-barrel bourbon, the balance of flavors will vary from bottle to bottle.
