You probably know Bartenura from that iconic tall blue bottle of Moscato d'Asti. Meet its bubblier sibling. Bartenura Sparkling Moscato comes in a blue, champagne-style bottle with a silver foil and cage, and it's made for popping open whenever the occasion calls for something festive.
The wine is made from Moscato grapes grown in Piedmont, in northwest Italy, the region that made sweet, aromatic Moscato famous. It's a spumante dolce, which is Italian for a fully sparkling, sweet wine, so expect more fizz than the gently frizzante Moscato d'Asti.
Aromas of fresh flowers and honeycomb jump out of the glass. On the palate, elegant, lively bubbles and fresh acidity balance sweet citrus notes, so it finishes bright rather than heavy. It's light, fun and incredibly easy to drink.
The Bartenura name honors Rabbi Ovadia ben Abraham of Bertinoro, the 15th-century scholar known as "the Bartenura," and the wine is kosher, making it a natural choice for holiday celebrations, Shabbat and simchas of every size.
Serve it well chilled. It's wonderful on its own as an aperitif, with fruit tarts, cheesecake and pastries, or alongside spicy dishes where a touch of sweetness cools things down. It also makes a fantastic base for mimosas and brunch spritzes.
Birthday, engagement, New Year's Eve or just a Tuesday that needs a lift: this is the bottle that says "let's celebrate."
