Capezzana “Villa di Capezzana” Carmignano is the historic flagship wine of the Contini Bonacossi family estate, whose roots in winemaking trace back to the Medici era, with the first bottling in 1925 and organic certification achieved in recent years. A blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is aged 12 months in French Oak, followed by at least a year in bottle. In the glass, it presents an intense ruby hue and offers elegant aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, violets, spice, savory herbs, and subtle tobacco, balanced by a silky palate underpinned by firm acidity, polished tannins, and a long finish with licorice notes. Serve (ideally after a half-hour decant) alongside grilled or roasted red meats, aged cheeses, or rich pasta dishes, and savor it slowly to fully appreciate its depth, structure, and provenance from one of Tuscany’s oldest estates.
