For those who appreciate a well-crafted wine, the Michael David Winery Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon offers a delightful experience. This wine can be cellared for up to 9 years and is ready to serve without the need for decanting.
Winery Background
The Phillips family has a rich history in Lodi, having cultivated fruits and vegetables since the 1860s. However, it wasn't until 1984 that brothers Michael and David began their winemaking journey, starting with just a barn, a few barrels, and an old press. Today, they manage over 800 acres of vineyards and adhere to the Lodi Rules, a series of regulations designed to promote sustainability and preserve the land for future generations. Their efforts were recognized in 2020 when they were named Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year.
Tasting Notes
The Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from an exceptional vineyard close to the winery. The grapes are harvested at their peak maturity and undergo a 14-month aging process in French oak barrels. This meticulous approach results in a robust wine that reflects the strength of the strongman depicted on the label. On the nose, you'll find enticing notes of raspberry, plum, and dark cherry, complemented by hints of toast, vanilla, and sweet baking spices. The wine presents a full body with smooth tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Food Pairings
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs wonderfully with barbecued meats, tomato-based pasta dishes, or a charcuterie board, making it a versatile choice for various dining experiences.
Please drink responsibly.
