Old Fitzgerald has a reputation. For years, the name meant pricey, allocated decanters that disappeared the moment they landed. So when Heaven Hill brought back a 7 Year Bottled-in-Bond as a year-round signature expression, bourbon fans took notice. Then it went and won Gold at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
This is a wheated bourbon (68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley) distilled at Heaven Hill's Bernheim Distillery in Louisville. Bottled-in-Bond means it's the product of one distillery and one distilling season, aged under federal supervision and bottled at a full 100 proof. The wheat keeps things soft and round; the extra proof keeps it from ever feeling thin.
Bright copper in the glass. The nose is graham cracker and honey, like the best part of a s'more. Fresh bread, brown sugar and baking spice fill the palate, and the finish rolls from brown sugar and cinnamon into gentle oak.
The bottle is a treat too: a red diagonal wordmark recreating the brand's 1884 trademark, shoulder fluting and a faceted closure that nod to the classic 1950s decanters, and "Your Key to Hospitality" on the label and embossed in the base. The neck wrap even tells you the season and year it was distilled.
Sip it neat, add a few drops of water, or let it anchor an Old Fashioned, Boulevardier or Paper Plane. This is Old Fitz you can actually drink, not just admire.
Bottle size: 700 mL.
