Experience the unique character of the Prisoner Wine Company Saldo Zinfandel, a wine that reflects the diverse terroir of Northern California. With a cellar potential of up to nine years, this wine is ready to enjoy without the need for decanting.
Wine Profile
Saldo, meaning “from here and there” in Latin, embodies the philosophy of sourcing grapes from some of California's most historic, old-vine, dry-farmed vineyards. In the glass, it showcases a dark ruby hue typical of classic Zinfandels.
Aroma and Flavor
On the nose, you will find enticing notes of clove intertwined with ripe dark fruits such as plums, blackberries, and huckleberries. The palate reveals a voluptuous character, with dark fruit flavors complemented by juicy acidity and hints of dark chocolate-covered cherries. A subtle vanilla spice lingers on the finish, enhancing the overall experience.
Aging and Pairing
This Zinfandel is oak-aged in a blend of French and American oak, with only 25% of the barrels being new. The rich dark chocolate notes make it an excellent pairing for dark molé sauces in Mexican cuisine, as well as charred grilled beef or lamb.
Please drink responsibly.
